Job Overview



 

Build something big! As a Compliance & Continuous Improvement Manager at Komatsu Longview Operations, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of our operations by driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement robust safety and quality assurance processes, assess and improve organizational capabilities, and foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the company.



Key Job Responsibilities



1. Design and Leadership: Responsible for the design, leadership, training, coaching, and execution of continuous improvement activities across the organization. This includes vision and roadmap development to align with the larger planning and logistics strategy.


2. Strategic Planning and Problem-Solving: Lead, manage, and deliver hands-on coaching and problem-solving techniques to associate through strategic planning and utilization of problem-solving methodologies. Drive towards standardization and improvement of processes within the organization.


3. Project Execution and Culture Building: Utilize CI tools and skills to identify, prioritize, and execute projects and events that result in improvement and support a culture that leads to self-sustaining capabilities with internal and external departments.


4. Cross-Functional Leadership: Recognize, coordinate, and lead team members cross-functionally and over multiple facilities to meet or exceed company business objectives.


5. Communication and Relationship Management: Communicate, interact, and maintain relationships with all levels of the organization, including front-line, managerial, and executive levels.


6. Compliance Support: Lead certifications initiatives such as ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001 through audits, corrective actions management, and steering committee meetings. Ensuring OHSMS & QMS requirements are integrated into the organization’s business processes. Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving all aspects of the OHSMS & QMS. Manage all aspects of document control and calibrations.


7. Change Management: Support change management to enhance Safety and Quality culture along with SLQDC initiatives.




Technical Responsibilities:





  •  Establish, lead, and train in CI activities that change behavior and move towards a proactive culture.


  •  Work with various departments and VS on properly identifying areas of improvement and prioritize initiatives to drive real improvements, added value, and maintain compliance.


  •  Develop and train on various aspects of Continuous Improvement and associated tools, including but not limited to Lean, 6S, Strategy Deployment, Root Cause Analysis, FTA, 5Why, DAMIC, 8 Step Problem Solving, X- Matrix Goal Setting, and Process Mapping.




Compliance Responsibilities:





  • Collaborate with departments to identify gaps with compliance and sustain systems and processes to improve ISO certifications consistency.




Strategic Responsibilities:





  • Create CI infrastructure, including a roadmap to drive measurable improvements while fostering a culture that balances data, action, and people.


  • Drive and document initiatives that will engage and manage team representatives who participate in CI activities. Incorporate change management as part of the core foundation.


  • Leverage leadership skills in operational, project, and change management to develop CI plans and prepare best practice recommendations.


  • Support RCA team development and lean tools with FTA, 5 Why, Kaizen, and 8 Ds.




Leadership and Development Responsibilities:





  • Leverage leadership skills in operational, project, change, and business management to develop a best-in-class model.


  • Work with leaders to define the current state situation, assess gaps in process/capabilities/talent, and assist in developing the future state in line with strategic plans.


  • Leverage the best programs and practices within Komatsu and the general industry to complement and prepare for readiness to expand the Logistics and Planning CI model.




Qualifications/Requirements



 





  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Project Management, or a related field.


  • Extensive experience (at least 10 years) in Continuous Improvement, ERPsystems (including SAP), and training, with proven leadership in creating and implementing programs across a diverse global organization.


  • Extensive experience in ISO 9001, 45001 required. Experience in Manufacturing required. Experience with ISO 14001 preferred. Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and focus, aiding in sound business judgments related to philosophies and initiatives.


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively facilitate meetings, events, and presentations, and interface comfortably across all organizational levels.


  • Proven ability to lead change, establish high-performing teams, and model high-performance standards. Experience working with diverse groups on process improvement initiatives, with a deep understanding of Lean transformation and formal change management.


  • Global execution skills, including project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a persistent drive for results.


  • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility with business partners.


  • Serves as a mentor and guide in the development of Komatsu personnel where appropriate.

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization.  We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.  In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites.  We have approximately 1,200 employees.
