PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, or curbs to
specified textures, using appropriate tools (i.e., hand or power tools, floats, trowels, screeds).

KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
A. Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency
B. Prep work utilizing cementitious or finish product to ensure substrate is appropriate for product to set forms
to specific standards, for example; chipping, bushing, and grinding
C. Level, smooth, and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete
D. Finish concrete surfaces using power trowel, or wet and rub concrete with abrasive stone to create finish,
place concrete to ensure proper elevation
E. Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer
F. Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound
G. Mold expansion joints and edges
H. Grind, chip, or blast to prep surface for materials, or as finish
I. Clean work area and restocking supplies and materials as necessary
J. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
K. All other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
A. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions,
and procedure manuals
B. Strong teamwork orientation
C. Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
D. Detail orientation
E. Knowledge of equipment and their uses
F. Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)
G. Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A. High school diploma or GED
B. Minimum two years of related experience
C. Must have passed Apprentice Aptitude Test
