Description Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for an Athletic Trainer position at the Walla Walla campus. See Required Application Materials section for more information General Description: The Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Athletic Director and will perform athletic training-oriented tasks for all sports teams at WWCC and keep current on athletic training techniques in order to perform these techniques for student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer must be available to student-athletes at designated times, and be present at all athletic events. Essential Functions: The Athletic Trainer must keep updated on current athletic training techniques, and be able to perform these techniques for student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer must be available to student-athletes at appropriate times, and be present at all athletic events unless otherwise stated by the Athletic Director. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director. Maintain a current Athletic Trainer's certificate and attend an annual athletic trainer-oriented seminar. The Athletic Trainer must keep current and updated on modern and advanced training techniques. Maintain First Aid and CPR certificates and keep them updated as required. This should be done on an annual basis. Be on hand at all Walla Walla Community College sporting events and perform pre-game, game, and post-game athletic training procedures for both the home and visiting teams. Be available to train all Walla Walla Community College student-athletes prior to and after work-outs when appropriate. Help student-athletes receive appropriate medical attention above and beyond the college's capabilities. Work with physicians on rehabilitation of injuries and make certain student-athletes and coaches follow all medical directions regarding the student-athletes' condition and return to work-outs. Maintain appropriate communication with physicians. Work with the Athletic Department Program Assistant regarding record keeping for all student-athlete injuries. Help the Program Assistant with administration of insurance issues. Athletic trainer must create and maintain appropriate cleanliness and a sanitary environment in and around the athletic training room. The athletic trainer must create a culture of equity and inclusion and deal with all Walla Walla Community College student athletes in an honest and fair manor. Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the applicant with the knowledge and skills to perform the job may be considered by the college. Bachelor's Degree in Athletic training or related field. Conditions/Terms of Employment This position is in a bargaining unit for which AFT is the exclusive representative. This is a full-time, overtime eligible professional position. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment. The college is a tobacco free institution. This position requires a combination of office work, work in the Athletic Training Lab, and out on the Athletic courts and fields. Work environment is busy and requires excellent organizational skills. There will be significant work outside of the office and outside of the Athletic Training Lab as well, and will require extensive standing and working on your feet. This position doesn't have a set schedule, as it will be determined by the sports and practice schedules. Nights and weekends may be required. Compensation: Annual salary range for initial placement based on the represented exempt salary schedule is PR02, Step A-F. Since this is an 11-month contract, that would bring the salary range to $54,526 - $61,690. The college has an excellent benefit program including paid sick leave; paid vacation leave; medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; retirement and two optional deferred compensation programs. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP). All administrative exempt staff set aside 1% of their gross salary in a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) (VEBA). All exempt employees are required to participate in this program. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.
