Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences Job Description: Overview: The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors to teach the following course at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI): BUS 6710 Biotechnology Entrepreneurship (spring semester, 1.5 credits) Course Description The creation and growth of the biotechnology industry has come through the creation of new companies. Conversely, most of the new biomedical companies founded in this century have been enabled by some aspect of the biotechnology revolution - whether recombinant DNA, monoclonal antibodies, synthetic biology or genomic medicine. This course provides an overview of how entrepreneurs conduct experiments in the marketplace to create and grow new life science businesses. The successful candidate must share in the mission of KGI and the Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences Programs. The Adjunct Faculty member reports directly to the Associate Dean of Faculty and works collaboratively with the Program Directors and other faculty. Located in beautiful Claremont, California, Keck Graduate Institute is a member of the prestigious Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five undergraduate liberal arts colleges, two graduate institutions, and The Claremont Colleges Services, which provide shared institutional support services. Education and Experience: Candidates must possess at least a Master's degree in a related field, with a Doctoral degree being strongly preferred. A minimum of two years of teaching experience is required, and prior experience with active learning techniques is highly desirable. Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system is considered a plus. Demonstrated ability to analyze and present complex issues to diverse individuals and groups. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities. Experience working with a diverse campus community and possess a commitment to equity and inclusion.
