The VP People Services role provides strategic direction and leadership to the People Services Team and drives efficiency and excellence through the team to support employees with Tier 2 support across the HR lifecycle. The Tier 2 People Services Team engages directly with the business customer to support the GM Financial employee and leader with direct and efficient assistance with people-related needs and cases. The team works to resolve escalated issues along employee relations, compensation, benefits, recruiting, leaves of absence, performance management, policy and compliance and business training delivery.

Responsibilities

About the role:


  • Serve as the primary business lead of a team who manages, prioritizes and resolves Human Resources people-related needs in a global operational environment

  • Serves as business-facing expert along Tier 2 escalated HR business processes directly supporting the business customer (in collaboration with peers across HR)

  • Leads the Tier 2 People Services contact center responsible for resolving tier 2 support concerns from the global employee base, including payroll

  • Lead the team to execute responsive customer services using cloud HCM technologies, automations and enhanced reporting and KPI tools

  • Direct the implementation of HR policies, strategies and initiatives through the tier 2 center team

  • Represents the Human Resources function on committees supporting information governance, regulatory compliance, enterprise initiatives review and planning

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape and execute the company's strategic HR customer service operation

  • Ensure that all plans and programs are aligned with corporate strategies and objectives and are in compliance with Federal, State and local guidelines and regulations

  • Manage successful, collaborative relationship with HRBPs, Centers of Excellence, IT, Finance and Payroll to ensure HR systems and processes meet business needs

  • Networks with internal and external business leaders to keep abreast of market trends and best practices for areas of responsibility

  • Ensure the expertise, process and procedures are in place to safeguard the data integrity of HR systems and continually leverage technology to the customer base

  • Direct the planning, development and implementation of human resources strategies through project management ensuring alignment with corporate goals

  • Implement the continuous improvement and standardization of processes across the function

  • Work closely with leadership, utilizes influencing and problem-solving skills to gain the right input into HR systems and process issues

  • Understands leaders' perspectives, develops consensus and confidently communicates final recommendations and decisions with credibility

  • Provides leadership, direction and management to the team creating and communicating a vision that motivates them to develop and pursue high standards of excellence, accountability and provide a remarkable customer experience

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What makes you an ideal candidate:

  • Expertise and practical experience of how transformed HR services are delivered, including domestic and international businesses plus advanced knowledge of Oracle HCM application or comparable

  • Experience implementing and leading HR operational business using Oracle cloud HCM solutions and other modern automations

  • Experience leading and delivering multi-faceted HR support and service across the employee lifecycle such as employee relations, compensation, benefits, recruiting, leaves of absence, performance management, policy and compliance and business training delivery

  • Ability to effectively translate the above knowledge into feasible strategies, policies and processes and to implement them with positive impact on corporate goals and objectives


Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Human Resources or equivalent experience required

Experience

  • Greater than 14+ years progressively responsible experience in Human Resources required

  • 1-2 years of HR experience operating with Oracle HCM, Fusion HR or similar technology preferred

  • 7+ years leading teams, projects and initiatives through influence required

  • Experience in post-transformation HR operations preferred

OUR BUSINESS & OUR HISTORY

GM Financial was founded as AmeriCredit in September 1992 and opened its first branch office in Fort Worth, Texas. On October 1, 2010, AmeriCredit Corp. was acquired by General Motors Company and renamed General Motors Financial Company, Inc. (GM Financial). In 2011, GM Financial acquired FinanciaLinx to serve GM dealers and customers throughout Canada.  In November 2012, GM Financial announced the acquisition of Ally Financial Inc.’s international operations. The majority of those acquisitions were finalized in 2013, with the remaining market, a 35 percent equity interest in a joint venture in China, acquired in January 2015.  In October 2017, GM Financial completed the sale of its European financial subsidiaries and branches as part of General Motors’ sale of the Opel and Vauxhall businesses to Peugeot S.A.

 

GM Financial provides auto finance solutions to 14,000 dealers worldwide, with earning assets of $93 billion at September 30, 2018.
