Under minimal supervision, the Online Learning Programs Manager will create, manage, and lead complex public educational programs for animal shelter professionals within the national online animal shelter educational program of the Koret Shelter Medicine Program (KSMP) at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. This advanced-level position encompasses key responsibilities such as project management, subject matter expertise, learner engagement, and content development, all in alignment with the strategic goals of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum 3 years experience working within the sheltering industry in a medical and/or animal care role.
  • Advanced knowledge of adult learning theories, online engagement strategies, and facilitation skills, with the ability to apply these concepts to complex public education programs.
  • Advanced project management skills, including experience creating and maintaining workflows, SOPs, and project management systems to support large-scale educational initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to clearly and respectfully convey expectations and provide constructive feedback while upholding standards and timelines.
  • Proven expertise in animal sheltering best practices, veterinary roles, and shelter medicine, with the ability to serve as a subject matter expert in the field.
  • Strong analytical skills to gather, analyze, and present data that supports continuous improvement in course content, learner engagement, and program outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with project management and educational technology platforms such as Notion, Asana, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Articulate 360, Zoom, and video/photo editing software
  • Experience with curriculum development, rubric creation, and learner assessment in an adult education or public education environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts and team members across a diverse organization.

Department Overview

The Online Learning Programs Manager plays a central role in implementing KSMP's mission to promote humane, community-centered approaches to animal care and shelter management. The manager will independently oversee the development and execution of educational programs that integrate shelter medicine best practices, veterinary roles, and a wide range of subject matter relevant to shelter leaders and frontline workers.
