The University of Chicago?s Biological Sciences Division (BSD) and the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCCCC) seek applications for appointment as full or associate professor, with full professor preferred. Appointment will be in an appropriate basic or clinical department and will focus on basic or translational cancer research. Thematic priorities including: cancer biology, immunology, cellular therapy, epigenetics, metabolism, immunometabolism, medicinal chemistry, target discovery or other cancer -related strategic areas of importance. The appointee will interact with other faculty to expand the Cancer Center and the Department?s research portfolio, be responsible for building, strengthening, and fostering relevant cancer-related activities, and will play an important role in carrying out the Cancer Center?s strategic plan. The UCCCC delivers outstanding patient care, conducts world-renowned research, and provides exemplary undergraduate, graduate, medical, and postgraduate education. The UCCCC received NCI designation in 1974 and designation as a comprehensive cancer center in 2008; its mission is to elucidate the determinants of cancer, to develop cures for cancer, and to prevent cancer through research, clinical care, education, and community engagement. Members of the UCCCC collaborate widely across the BSD, with other Divisions, Schools, and Institutes at the University of Chicago, and with researchers at Argonne National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent and qualify for appointment as a tenured faculty member.
