Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern.
In this role, the successful candidate The Department of Neurosurgery has an immediate opening for a Student Intern to
participate in the Jafar Summer Research Fellowship in Neurosurgery for Medical
Students. This program is for medical students interested in clinical research in fields of
Neurosurgery and Neuroscience. During the program, supervised by Dr. Douglas
Kondziolka, Dr. Daniel Orringer, Dr. Eveline Teresa Hidalgo, and Dr. Darryl Lau, medical
students will work as summer interns. Interns will conduct mentored clinical research
projects and participate in academic events.
Job Responsibilities:
Each intern will be paired with a team of mentors. Interns will conduct mentored clinical
research projects and participate in academic events. Students will participate in both
clinical and basic science research under the guidance of research mentors. Interns will
also be able to participate in shadowing both in the clinic and operating rooms.
Educational opportunities include attending Grand Rounds, case conferences, resident
teaching conferences, and other educational programming offered to residents of the
department. Interns are expected to be in-person for the completion of the fellowship
and commitment over approximately 8 weeks.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a The student intern must be a full-time student, or if working in the summer months (Mid-May through Mid-Sept), must be planning to return to full-time status in the fall.
Preferred Qualifications:
Interested applications should submit a CV or resume and personal statement online.
Your personal statement should include a brief description of your interest in the
program and detail why you should be selected for the Fellowship. The statement must
also include a potential research question or thoughtful scientific gap that you could
investigate as a project during your Fellowship.
Statements should be 1 page maximum (size 11 font, double space, 1 in margin).
Applications that are missing any of these components will not be considered.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.00 - $16.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
