Data Analytics Sr. - University Audit and Advisory | Yale University - Military Veterans

  1. Collaborates with internal audit and investigative teams to implement data analytics and AI strategies across all department engagements and continuous monitoring initiatives, in compliance with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards and departmental policies.2. Compiles, cleans, and analyzes data to support project planning, fieldwork testing, and the development of data-driven audit and investigative tests, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.3. Assists in the creation and execution of data-driven audit and investigative methodologies, contributing to the development of preliminary observations and insights.4. Designs, maintains, and updates dashboards and reports to monitor key internal audit metrics and support continuous monitoring efforts.5. Analyzes large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risk areas, providing data-driven insights to enhance audit methodologies, investigative processes, and internal controls.6. Supports the preparation of presentations and reports for various stakeholders, synthesizing and interpreting findings to highlight key trends, risks, and actionable outcomes.7. Researches and assists in the implementation of AI tools and technologies to enhance audit and investigative processes, exploring the integration of new technologies to automate manual processes and improve data collection efficiency.8. Establishes and maintains relationships with data owners to understand available data resources, ensuring data governance, quality assurance, and effective use of data for risk identification and monitoring.9. Networks with internal and external data analysis specialists to stay updated on innovative solutions and align data analytics efforts with institutional goals and audit department needs.10. Advances personal knowledge, skills, and competencies through professional development, including attending relevant conferences and seminars.11. Maintains and updates the department's inventory of continuous monitoring activities and related documentation, supporting the department's mission of improving risk management, control, and governance processes. Required Skill/ability 1: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for data manipulation and with analytical tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) for data visualization and reporting.Understanding of AI technologies and machine learning algorithms, with the ability to research and implement AI tools and technologies. Required Skill/ability 2: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate business processes and controls.Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening abilities, with the capacity to prepare and present clear, concise reports and handle complex communication challenges. Required Skill/ability 3: Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse clients and team members on concurrent work assignments, delivering high-quality work and client service.Good judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify gaps in logic, sensitive issues, and proactively facilitate effective communication at various organizational levels. Required Skill/ability 4: Some knowledge of accounting and audit principles, auditing techniques, and relevant laws, regulations, and policies, with the ability to apply this knowledge in engagements.Ability to keep abreast of developments in accounting, auditing, and the higher education sector and apply this knowledge effectively. Required Skill/ability 5: Commitment to professional growth, with a focus on taking on more challenging assignments and tasks beyond standard work assignments.Acts as an ambassador of the department and university, consistently demonstrating a positive, can-do attitude. Preferred Education: Experience with ERP systems such as Workday, SAP, or Oracle.Knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO, IIA's International Professional Practices Framework).
