PRIMARY FUNCTION

 

This position is responsible for developing robust processes that consistently meet or exceed our customers’ requirements for the quality and performance of critical aerospace hardware. Also, supports continuous improvement of processes by improving and developing methods of manufacturing that lead to higher first pass yield.

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support MRB RCCA events in order to keep FEMA and control plans up to date

  • Part Qualification and Re-qualification - Determines and supports manufacturing requirements necessary to meet customer requirements; Support development and implementation of Process Flow Diagram per customer requirements

  • Process Development and Improvement - Monitors/analyzes data to develop process improvement ideas for new and established processes

  • Manufacturing Support - Monitors manufacturing output to ensure process control; Responds to manufacturing needs: Creates and updates work instructions needed to support manufacturing processes.

  • Coordinate multiple projects of med-high complexity and risk or projects with multiple sub-projects.

  • Manage and work through project launch teams to ensure that the APQP scope and outcome is achieved.  Accountable for scope change management within the APQP guidelines.

  • Ensure risk mitigation is realized during process development to meet or exceed internal and external requirements. 

  • Coordinates with Project Managers who act as the primary point of customer contact for the project.

  • Presents APQP development status to Project Management

  • Participate in strategic planning/profit planning processes

  • Evaluate and implement continuous improvement in the product development process.  May include authoring documents and standards.

  • Provide guidance and support to lower level process engineers

  • Evaluate and drive implementation and maintenance of appropriate APQP tools.

  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Additional job duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Understanding of PowerPoint, Excel, 3D Model, and APQP Tools and process

  • Able to read blueprints and GD&T

  • Understanding of fabrication, machining, outsourcing, turning tooling, machine prints, time management, materials, hardware assembly and inspection

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required

  • 1 to 4 years’ experience in an APQP environment

  • Demonstrated ability to moderate and lead projects and drive technical discussions

  • Ability to prepare technical and strategic issues for management decisions

  • Effective strategic, long-term and planning thought processes

  • Strong communication and presentation skills to customers and leadership

  • Demonstrates a commitment to Quality, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement

  • High school diploma/GED, certificate in Product Development, Machine Tool Technology, AS9145/AS13100 certification, Ford Blue Book or equivalent work experience
