Responsibilities
About the role:
As the Principal Engineer, Salesforce you will be required to represent deep expertise for Salesforce and related technologies to help modernize and transform our Servicing Technology. You will use your knowledge of Salesforce design, data architecture, integrations to cloud-native solutions, software development best practices, API management, security, and data to advise and drive a disciplined foundation and use of the Salesforce platform. The ideal candidate will champion the end state design, using modern development principles and guidelines. We are seeking a candidate who has great breadth and depth of experience when it comes to the Salesforce landscape
- Serve as a strategic expert for Salesforce. Defining designs for business capabilities that demonstrate industry leading best practices that support GMF Financial product owner business and technology objectives.
- Provide technical design and architectural leadership for Salesforce, including designing and diagramming the Salesforce Servicing system at GMF. Represent the Salesforce platform in architecture review.
- Responsible for providing technology leadership and oversight of the Salesforce platform design.
- Liaise with other teams including, but not limited to Business (LOBs), other Servicing teams, Cloud Platform Services, Security, IT Delivery, Solutions Architects, Data Architects, Domain Architects, Risk, Operations, Corporate Function etc. for coordination on programs and projects.
- Facilitate organizational change by defining strategies where to use or avoid Salesforce and related Salesforce technologies as the technology system(s) of choice for any given capabilities; evaluate business requirements in the early stages of projects to determine integration technologies, system architectures and patterns should be employed to meet business objectives efficiently.
- Identify and advise product and engineering teams on emerging technology solutions in the Salesforce platform; help implement Proofs of Concept for demonstration purposes
- Collaborate with project teams to lead solution design, project proposals, proof-of-concepts, and delivery of the solution implementation including integration with both internal and external applications
- Communicate best practices by giving presentations, working with project teams, and authoring content aimed at educating others about standards, strategies, and otherwise defined best practices
- Help GM Financial establish a Salesforce Center of Excellence by defining best practices, develop software development governance and data governance in the Salesforce environment.
- Lead implementation teams in brainstorming for solutions, help decision making for implementation detail and ensure development is reviewed and approved via our CI/CD process

Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree, or equivalent experience required.
- 12+ years in related function(s) required
- 5-7 years leading through mentorship in related field required
- 5-7 years driving thought leadership and innovation across products required
- 10 years of experience in Salesforce
- 10 years of experience in integrating non-Salesforce systems of record technologies into Salesforce
- 5 years of experience in Software development involving non-software technologies such as: java, c#/.net, python, javascript, REACT, Angular, etc.
- 1 year of experience in the role of architect
- A proven record as a technical leader in the space of Salesforce
- Experience in either standing up or transforming a large instance of Salesforce, large here means multi-thousands of users and millions of Account/Contact records
- Salesforce Developer certified preferred, not required.

OUR BUSINESS & OUR HISTORY
GM Financial was founded as AmeriCredit in September 1992 and opened its first branch office in Fort Worth, Texas. On October 1, 2010, AmeriCredit Corp. was acquired by General Motors Company and renamed General Motors Financial Company, Inc. (GM Financial). In 2011, GM Financial acquired FinanciaLinx to serve GM dealers and customers throughout Canada. In November 2012, GM Financial announced the acquisition of Ally Financial Inc.’s international operations.
