Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$63,750 - $180,400

About The Role:

As a Senior Visual Designer in the Incubation Lab, you’ll be a hands-on designer responsible for crafting exceptional visual experiences across digital platforms. You will focus on the aesthetic and functional aspects of design, blending creativity and craft to create compelling and innovative solutions. This role requires strong execution skills to bring concepts to life through detailed visuals, prototypes, and storytelling. 

You will work collaboratively with experience designers, strategists, and stakeholders to shape the look and feel of digital products and services. Additionally, you’ll help raise the bar for visual design across the Incubation Lab by setting a high standard of craft and delivering work that inspires the team and stakeholders alike

Responsibilities

  • Define the visual identity, tone, and creative direction of future products and services, translating these ideas into polished, high-quality design deliverables and prototypes. 
  • Lead the visual execution of diverse design projects, including consumer apps, patient journeys, and storytelling experiences, ensuring exceptional craft at every stage. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align visual design with overall experience strategy and business objectives. 
  • Balance creativity with a practical approach to ensure designs are intuitive, functional, and scalable within the constraints of component-based design systems. 
  • Present and communicate design rationale effectively across stakeholders, inspiring confidence in creative decisions while being open to critique and feedback. 
  • Maintain attention to detail and bring expertise to all aspects of visual design, including typography, composition, color, motion, and art direction. 
  • Embrace a collaborative and iterative design process that encourages critique, feedback, and a growth mindset across the team

 


Basic Qualifications/ Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design, such as Digital Design, Interaction Design, Visual Communication Design or a similar field.

  • Or High School Diploma/GED with 6-8+ years of equivalent practical experience.

  • 5+ years of professional design experience with a focus on visual design for digital platforms. 

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States;

Additional Information

  • A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional visual design work, including interface design, motion, and visual storytelling. 

  • Mastery of foundational design principles, with a strong command of typography, grid systems, composition, and colour theory. 
  • Experience with creating and applying design systems, as well as understanding when to innovate beyond existing patterns. 
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, incorporating insights from research, strategy, and experience design to inform visual direction. 
  • A hands-on approach to solving design challenges and producing polished, visually stunning work. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas for diverse audiences.
