The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Project Manager (PM) in the development operations and profitability of all physical security services at the assigned nuclear power contract location through the application of sound business, financial, and human resources management practices. This position is responsible for the implementation of operational services using effective scheduling controls to control overtime, compliance with proprietary and regulatory requirements, and direct supervision of Security Shift Supervisors. The Assistant Project Manager is the liaison to security management to ensure proper execution of shift operations.

Salary up to $115,356.80 / year

Located in Waterford, Connecticut

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Those duties necessary to meet the minimum requirements of the position. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Oversee and maintain all aspects for the day-to-day functions of security operations
  • Provide supervision to Security Shift Supervisors and Supervisor Team; perform Personnel Evaluations and administer discipline for direct reports; selection of supervisory candidates and selection of personnel to assume increased responsibility
  • Oversee staffing and scheduling to ensure compliance and control overtime; approves schedules and post assignments based on control of overtime and compliance to regulatory requirements
  • Conduct operations to meet rules, regulations, and contract requirements
  • Assist in the hiring and/or promotion of security officers and supervisors
  • Oversee adherence to the Safety Program requirements
  • Oversee adherence to SCWE (Safety Conscious Work Environment) program requirements
  • Develop, mentor, and establish a succession plan for Security Shift Supervisors
  • Oversee purchasing and inventory control of operational supplies and equipment
  • Take over contract management duties during the absence from the site of the Project Manager
  • Provides technical and operational direction to personnel assigned to the contract security force and coordinates with client Operations and Training representatives on training and operations
  • Perform RSS administrative functions
  • Make routine operational decisions based on policy and procedures
  • Direct on-the-job training to improve employee performance and professional development
  • Develop and implement assessment tools to ensure contract compliance
  • Review team member reports, overriding routing to make corrections as needed
  • Make recommendations for process improvement and performance enhancement based on observations
  • Make recommendations for staffing needs
  • Make recommendations about hiring and promotion
  • Make recommendations on disciplinary actions

Formal Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have the ability to meet and maintain applicable licensing or certification requirements


Type and Length of Specific Experience Required:

  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience
  • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years of security experience in the nuclear industry
  • Must have successful experience in leadership development and training

OTHER RELATED ATTRIBUTES THAT WOULD ENHANCE HIRING CONSIDERATION:

  • Associate's Degree or above in business administration, criminal justice, or law-enforcement related fields
  • Security related experience in the nuclear industry
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Federal codes, regulations and standards related to Security


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office environment with minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures is expected.
  • Major activities include working on PC while sitting, telephone/radio use
  • Physical effort is limited, to include some standing, walking, and sitting; minimal to no stooping or kneeling
  • Must be able to submit to drug screening to the extent permissible by law
