The Nuclear Process Infrastructure Division (NPI) is seeking ahighly motivated, customer service focused and experienced Professional Staff Assistants (PSA) to join our team.
Who We Are
Nuclear Process Infrastructure Division (NPI) supports waste and nuclear material processes to achieve plutonium mission success at PF-4, the analytical chemistry and materials science support facilities (CMR and RLUOB), and the solid and liquid waste facilities (RLWTF, TWF, RANT, and WCRRF). NPI supports a variety of defense and non-defense programs including pit production and surveillance, ARIES, NASA heat sources, integration with ALDPI in support of construction, and other programs with non-destructive assay, long term storage and vault operations, waste, and shipping of special nuclear material.
NPI's primary mission is to support National Security and National Science Missions for LANL, through the Associate Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP), to successfully execute its mission assignments involving nuclear, science, technology and weapons components. What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Professional Staff Assistant level 1 or 2, depending on the experience, skills , and education of the selected candidate.
Professional Staff Assistant 1 ($63,200 - $99,000)
As a Professional Staff Assistant, you will be required to provide professional level administrative support to and interact daily with the NPI Division Leader, Deputy Division Leader, Staff Operations Manager as well as all levels of internal and external Laboratory customers. You will be expected to maintain a professional office atmosphere that fosters a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment free from discrimination and harassment. Under established supervision, you will assume responsibility for completing all assigned tasks while demonstrating a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, initiative, versatility, tact, and confidentiality in all matters. Duties may include but are not necessarily limited to conducting research, assembling data for assigned projects; composing a variety of reports and/or presentations; coordinating logistics, scheduling, and facilitation of meetings and/or conferences; handling sensitive and/or classified information. You must understand and adhere to all Laboratory and regulatory policies and procedures.
Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills are a necessity for this role. Excellent knowledge of and experience with standardized software packages is a must as is the ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks under strict deadlines.
Professional Staff Assistant 2 ($69,500 - $110,300)
In addition to the skills and duties listed above, under limited direction, the selected candidate will be expected to contribute to division process improvement initiatives; generate and review correspondence; investigate alternatives and recommend solutions to problems; conduct analysis, design and/or implementation of business and/or operational initiatives to promote organizational objectives. You will be expected to act as a resource to others and provide input and guidance on policies, processes, procedures and guidelines in support of business needs.

Undergraduate coursework may be expected at this level.
Professional Staff Assistant 2 ($69,500 - $110,300)
Position requires a bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications
• Active Department of Energy (DOE) "Q" Clearance.
• Knowledge of LANL organizational structures, policies, practices, and procedures.
• Experience with the LANL visitor program.
• Demonstrated professionalism in interactions with various LANL stakeholders and customers (examples, Federal Program Sponsors, senior management team, various organizations throughout LANL).
• Ability to work with sensitive information and or classified matter.
• Knowledge of and or experience in functions, organizations, and or programs relevant to the position.
• Knowledge of governmental regulations and potential environmental impacts related to the assigned area's specialized functions.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations areat the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
