General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, is seeking Packers to join our Saco Operations team. We are about supporting the mission of the warfighter. Our products can be found with every U.S. Military branch with allies around the world. We are looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help shape and support this organization.

The Packer #2 will package finished products for shipment and can perform the following: Foam-in-Place Packaging, Military Packaging, and Commercial Packaging Practices. Must be knowledgeable of packing procedures, materials, and types of shipping containers. Oil parts prior to packing using various types of oil for corrosion prevention. Maintains records of serial numbers, packaging contents, dates, etc. Follow established company directives and policies, military specifications, process sheet operations, and instructions.

Responsibilities

Packages products following a specific set of process instructions. Uses a variety of hand tools, pneumatic tools, packaging equipment and dunnage equipment to prepare goods for shipment. Fills out forms and enters data manually or electronically. Use a variety of materials and packaging components to manually package product per process and specifications. Ensure packing materials and final product meets quality specifications. Identify defective packaging materials. Produce packaging labels on computer terminal including RFID/UID labeling. Operate the required material handling devices to move and package heavy loads as necessary.

The physical capacity requirements for this position require the incumbent to be able to lift 35 pounds frequently. Practice safety and good housekeeping policies and procedures.

  • Performs such paper work as preparing transportation slips, shortage lists, requisitions, etc. or work of a similar nature.
  • Foam in Place set up and use.
  • Write non-conformances reports as necessary.
  • May be required to perform other duties as required by supervision and follows instructions as directed.
