Responsibilities

This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite, TX.

SUMMARY: Provides technical support to the quality and quality engineering (QE) functions. Conducts quality control (QC) inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc., at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards. Captures and analyzes statistical data from processes to either confirm compliance with established standards or identify deviations from standards. Recommends new or enhanced methods, procedures and standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Performs repetitive and routine inspections, checks, tests and sampling procedures of standard parts, units, equipment, or materials.

  • Performs inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to well-defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurements.

  • Reworks or rejects subassemblies or finished products as required.

  • Performs audits to ensure standards of quality are maintained.

  • Documents the results of the inspections and testing.

  • Coordinates calibration of test equipment and fixtures.

  • Assists with inspection procedures, protocol, and checklists.

  • May be responsible for:
    • Ensuring complaince with formal external quality standards, such as ISO 9001

  • Works under close supervision with little autonomy

  • Completes assigned tasks with a moderate degree of supervision


Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Preferred: Vocational/Technical Training Degree

  • 2-4 years prior experience in a similar position. Quality Function in an Industrial Manufacturing environment preferred.

Preferred
  • Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.

Physical Demands

  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

  • May need to stand for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.

  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.

  • May be requested to work a different shift

  • Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours as required.
