Director, Product Assurance and Security - Military Veterans

The Cisco Security Business Group (SBG) focuses on empowering the world to reach its full potential, securely through the Cisco Secure products. The SBG Product Assurance team supports this mission by building thoughtful partnerships with our internal partners to drive security strategy alignment across the SBG portfolio. Our team's mission is to become our internal customers' most trusted partners by building best-in-class security programs that shape the market with our research, make it easy for our customer teams within Cisco to develop secure software, protect our most valuable information and customer assets, and enable SBG employees to work securely as they deliver Cisco Secure products.

We are looking for a business unit CISO, who engages with senior leadership across the Cisco Security Business Group and provides leadership, strategic direction and mentorship within the SBG Product Assurance team. If that sounds like an exciting challenge, we want to talk to you!

What you will do:

• Represent the SBG Product Assurance team at the senior leadership level of the SBG organization.

• Enable product assurance team members to deliver against quarterly and annual roadmaps and goals.

• Participate in development of broader product roadmaps.

• Interact with internal engineering teams to identify security pain points and opportunities for improvement.

• Coordinate team-wide strategic initiatives.

• Communicate status of initiatives to a large audience of stakeholders.

• Manage day-to-day and long-term performance of security team leaders.

• Guide the professional development of leaders.

• Effectively communicate and influence internal and cross-functional teams to advance security initiatives within the organization.

• Track broad, cross-functional projects.

• Identify and communicate security issues, problems, and challenges to the rest of the SBG team.

• Ability to take ownership of the strategic roadmap for the SBG security program and track progress to demonstrate business-oriented security outcomes.

Who you are: You have a strong understanding of security concepts facing today's modern technology companies with experience mentoring, formal or informal, of leaders and leaders of leaders. You're familiar with implementing solutions against compliance frameworks that achieve the security goal and not just check the box.

Strong experience building and operating within a rigorous SDLC with an understanding of security threats facing companies today and ideas about how to address them and substantive experience leading multiple team projects and carrying them to completion.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field or an equivalent work experience technical field with 12+ years of work experience in the IT industry.

• Demonstrable leadership experience in an IT security or a software product security role plus experience in cloud architecture using platforms including AWS, Azure and GCP or related technologies.

• 8+ years of experience leading teams or cross-functional projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrable experience in executing on strategic business goals in a software engineering, security organization as a CISO and proactively pursue projects to advance them.

• The security mindset that can analyze situations, technology, and human systems both as an attacker and defender.

• Familiarity of programming and IaC languages, preferably Python, Go, Terraform.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
