Early Head Start Home Based Educator | The Ohio State University - Military Veterans

The Early Head Start/Head Start Home Based Educator will recruit, enroll and maintain a required minimum caseload of ten families in compliance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards. They will complete initial orientation paperwork and child developmental assessments with each family entering the program, visit assigned families to complete a needs assessment and complete the Family Partnership Agreement. The incumbent will schedule 90 minute in-home weekly visits with children and their families and document the visits in the Child Plus data system. They will plan and facilitate Family Socialization Activities two times per month with a minimum of 22 activities per year. In addition, the EHS/HS Home Based Educator will utilize assigned curriculum for early learning during home visits and family socialization activities in alignment with EHS/HS school readiness goals, work with parents to develop individualized early learning lesson plans based on the childs development and identified family needs, and ensure children are up to date with well child checks and immunizations and that families have health insurance. Based on the familys needs assessment, the EHS/HS Home Based Educator will assist families in accessing comprehensive services including health, dental, nutrition, mental health, workforce development, and social services. They will work as a liaison between the needed services and the family and provide transportation as needed, and participate in collaboration meetings with other team members and community partners to assure familys needs are being met. Finally, the incumbent will develop respectful, positive, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with children and families. They will provide accurate and timely documentation, abide by ethical standards of practice, attend meetings and adhere to professional demeanor, and other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor. Attend and participate in meetings and agency Professional Development. 10% - Recruit and maintain maximum caseload of 12 families, maintain an active waiting list, and work cooperatively with community resource agencies 50% - Visit families once per week for 1 1â?„2 hours per visit 25% - Plan and implement group socialization experiences 10% - Administer screening and assessments along with keeping accurate childrens records 5% - Schedule and conduct parent conferences at least twice a year Schedule: Monday through Friday. Hours must be flexible to meet the needs of the families. Minimum Education Required: Associate degree in child development, early childhood education, social work, or related field. Bachelors degree preferred. Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 1 year of relevant experience required. 2 - 3 years of relevant experience preferred. Required Qualifications: A minimum of two years early childhood education experience. Home visiting experience preferred. Proven ability to work with families of diverse backgrounds in a home based setting. Must show professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to work independently. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills Must understand and abide by ethical practice. Ability to receive training certifications in child abuse recognition, communicable diseases, first aid/CPR within 30 days of hire. Must have up-to-date immunizations. Requires successful completion of a background check.
