The Design & Technical Support Organization within Mission Systems Services is currently searching for an ECAD Manager to join our team. This position will have cognizance over ECAD designers & drafters primary based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. Remote candidates will be considered, however essential travel may be required.
This MiS ECAD Manager will lead a team of technical designers and support the development of highly complex printed circuit board assemblies for use in extremely reliable aviation and communication equipment. This individual will be responsible for the successful leadership of design support personnel and for ensuring the successful implementation of design processes and standards.
Design Support Managers within Mission System Services often lead and participate in highly complex projects and activities related to the integration of heritage businesses. These projects may include changes, upgrades, and updates to our tools, systems, documents, processes, and procedures. These high visibility projects are critical to the growth, development, and integration of Mission Systems. Successful candidates will possess strong project management skills.
The ECAD Manager will work in close collaboration with Electrical Engineering, Product Development Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Configuration Management and other enterprise organizations to deliver optimal design solutions and will assist in the enhancement of streamlined product development processes.
What YOU Will Do:
Lead a team of technical ECAD designers responsible for the design and documentation of new or modified printed circuit board designs
Effectively manage daily operations required to meet schedules and resolve complex problems
Oversees and reviews the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of required documentation
Ensures that there are appropriate design tools in place to facilitate work
Develops and administers schedules, work plans, and performance requirements
Leads and/or participates in design related integration projects, activities, and threads
Acts as an adviser to the business units regarding tasks, projects, and operations
Delegates work to salaried non-exempt employees
Responsible for workforce planning to ensure efficient operation
Responsible for the selection and development of future employees and performance management and evaluation of current employees
Responsible for the development and maintenance of technical capability and process to ensure optimal and efficient reuse of controlled IP and the sharing of controlled technical information
Ensure the technical interfacing and communication to project development teams and direct and subcontract staff
May be responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to budgets
Investigate quality escapes, identify root cause issues and implement corrective actions

Qualifications You Must Have:
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Typically requires University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
Knowledge in Electrical Hardware design fundamentals
Experience with Printed Circuit Board Design
Experience of the ECAD PWB layout process & electrical component library management using ECAD tools
Qualifications We Prefer:
Fluent in Product Configuration Structures, BOMs and Engineering Change processes
Familiar with relevant design tools (Mentor Xpedition, Blueprint)
Experience working with the Product Data Management (PDM) tool Enovia
Strong project management skills and experience
Knowledge of the product development lifecycle
Knowledge of ECAD/MCAD collaboration techniques
