Open Rank Faculty Position in Quantum Science and Technology | Columbia University - Military Veterans

Columbia Engineering is pleased to invite applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position in Quantum Science and Technology, starting July 1, 2025. Recruitment for this position is part of a broad university-level Quantum Initiative that spans multiple schools and departments across Columbia University in the City of New York. Applications at all ranks will be considered. Applications are sought in all areas of quantum science and technology covering both theoretical and experimental aspects. Areas of interest include novel physical phenomena, electronic/photonic materials, devices, circuits and integrated systems for quantum communications, computing, sensing, metrology, and theoretical aspects of quantum information processing, including detection and estimation, error-correction coding, machine learning, and optimization. We are seeking researchers who can benefit from the highly multidisciplinary environment and the state-of-the-art shared facilities/infrastructure within Columbia University such as the Columbia Nano Initiative and the Data Science Institute. The candidate is expected to hold a full or joint appointment in the Department of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, or Mechanical Engineering and is expected to contribute to the advancement of their field, the Department(s), and the School by developing an original and leading externally funded research program, establishing strong collaborations in research and education with related disciplines such as Physics and Chemistry, and contributing to the undergraduate and graduate educational mission of the Department(s) and the School. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or its professional equivalent by the starting date of the appointment. Applicants for this position at the Assistant Professor and Associate Professor without tenure levels must have the potential to do pioneering research and to teach effectively. Applicants for this position at the tenured level (Associate or Full Professor) must have a demonstrated record of outstanding research accomplishments, excellent teaching credentials, and established leadership in the field.
