Summary

HII - Mission Technologies is seeking a Tactical Radio Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. The SME will be supporting our customers, US Air Forces in Europe (USAFE), A4S Security Forces Future Operations, and their subordinate organizations with implementing self-healing, meshed radio frequency networks at multiple European locations. The Tactical Radio SME works closely with customers and staff in support of USAFE networked command and control systems throughout Europe and potentially Africa. Qualified applicants have a background in tactical communication equipment, radio frequency theory, antenna theory, and network engineering.

What You Will Do

  • Support the tactical radio network design and management at multiple locations throughout Europe with the ability to share information at various levels of classification.
  • Assisting the government in establishing and maintaining the networking communication between the major functional systems, "nodes", in and peripheral to a Base Defense Operations Center.
  • Facilitate in the design and installation of communication network equipment for USAFE/A4S' subordinate echelons.
  • Apply analysis and communications expertise, to analyze, evaluate issues, and develop recommendations to resolve substantive communication problems/issues of effectiveness and efficiency of work operations for USAFE-AFAFRICA Security Forces internal operations and operations with Partner Nations.
  • Manage USAFE/A4S communication programs relating to multiple tactical or strategic areas, to include: modern mission planning/employment, mobilization, exercises, agile operations, and contingencies.
  • Document planning and programming decisions in appropriate formats to meet Air Force and Major Command requirements.
  • Identify non-standard or emerging communication operational requirements, assess the impact on assignments, and develop recommendations for changes and revisions as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with appropriate USAFE Security Forces Squadrons and the MAJCOM to ensure all major areas of concern meet current and forecasted higher headquarters planning and programming guidance.
  • Prepare and deliver oral presentations such as briefings, training sessions, consultations, and strategy sessions with other staff service functions and activities to secure cooperation, resolve controversial matters, and convey information relative to proposed changes in assignments.


What We Are Looking For

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in Military Operational career fields with regular tactical radio usage in military communications systems and/or network engineering in a large, distributed environment with emphasis on military (US/NATO)operations.
  • Experience in modern information systems, including computer hardware, data storage, network and distributed systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of radio theory and experience with programming tactical radios and meshed network design and maintenance.
  • Clearance - Must possess and maintain an active SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI


Preferred: Bonus Points For...

  • Experience with integrating ATAK into daily operations
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and/or CompTIA SEC+ certifications.
  • 10 years of recent specialized experience in military communications, military networks, or joint interface control.
  • Experience operating complex data fusion systems, RF hardware, and relevant base defense weapon systems.
  • Qualified Instructor/Evaluator in a military career field requiring regularly recurring evaluations to maintain job currency.
  • Demonstrated communication skills; both written and oral concerning technical material and explaining these aspects to non-technical customers.
  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
