Position Summary/Description:

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, Regional Programs, the Senior Regional Development Officer will be assigned to represent the University in multiple regions including within North Carolina and along the East Coast of the United States. Coordinating with the University's overall fundraising program, the Senior Regional Development Officer will maintain and manage a personal portfolio of top prospects to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gifts to support the University. In addition to geographic assignments, Senior RDOs will also from time-to-time focus on specific programmatic or strategic initiatives.

Education and Experience:

Demonstrated successful principal and major gift fundraising or transferrable experience.

Essential Skills:

Proven, excellent verbal and written communication skills. The skill to motivate and engender the confidence of prospects and donors. Ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive environment such as a research university setting; and exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and performance as evidenced by collaborative teamwork, initiative, critical thinking, good judgment, consistency of output, timeliness of follow-through and strength of written and verbal communication skills. Travel and some weekend work are required.
