MassBay Community College is seeking a full-time,tenure-track English faculty member to join the Division of Humanities andSocial Sciences. The ideal candidatewill demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among adiverse student population and be committed to the followingcollege-wide goals: fostering alearner-centered environment that reflects best practices, establishingrigorous curricula and relevant programs of study to promote student success,and cultivating a culture of civility, collaboration, inclusion, and respectfor individual differences and perspectives. This position includes teaching a full range of writing courses,including English Composition I and II. Facultymembers are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materialsconsistent with the philosophy and framework of the program, MassBay CommunityCollege, and,if applicable, accreditation, licensure, and specialty requirements. The faculty member is responsible formaintaining current expertise in the discipline. Key Responsibilities and Duties: Teach online and in-perons courses on Wellesley Hills, Framingham campuses, or Ashland campuses or at Early College high school partner schools as assigned; Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course and program requirements and student learning outcomes for Graduation Competencies as appropriate; Serve as academic advisor to students; Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week; Participate in the improvement and development of academic programs and resources; Serve on College committees as elected or appointed; Attend Program, Department, Division, Faculty, and Committee meetings; Recommend to the Department Chair suitable instructional material, textbooks, and library acquisitions; Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes; Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate; Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in the discipline and the classroom; Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Required Qualifications: Master's degree in English or a related field; A minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience, or the equivalent part-time experience, teaching writing; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Demonstrated ability to use information technology effectively. Preferred Qualifications: Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity; Experience working in a diverse environment; Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students; Demonstrated ability to work effectively with English language learners, adult learners, and at-opportunity students; Demonstrated ability to design and implement a curriculum that develops the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills of students and to use culturally responsive and inclusive perspectives; Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning; Demonstrated interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Inaddition, finalists will be expected to demonstrate evidence of success in someof the following areas: reviewing andimproving courses and developing new courses; participating in holisticplacement scoring and program-wide portfolio assessment; using alternativepedagogies such as service-learning, learning communities, and distancelearning; developing and teaching online courses; developing co-curricularprograms. Additional Information: Salary Range: : $56,190- $64,409, in accordance with one'seducation and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreementclassification compensation structure.
