MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II, BUMC Facilities Management Tracking Code: 23500014431011 Job Description MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II, BUMC Facilities Management Category Boston University Medical Campus --> Trades Job Location BOSTON, MA, United States Tracking Code 23500014431011 Salary Grade Grade 00 Position Type Full-Time/Regular DUTIES: Install, service and maintain HVAC systems in residential, academic, laboratory settings and commercial properties Perform routine maintenance and service work on compressors, pumps, exhaust fans, air handlers, boilers, steam condensate systems, chillers, and computer room air conditioners Replace motors, belts, pumps, filters, bearings, shafts and adjust drivers as needed Maintain cooling towers Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems on both routine and emergency basis Troubleshoot and repair HVAC control systems including chillers, boilers, packaged roof tops, AHUs, VAVs, FCUs, FPBs, etc. Measure air and water flows and make adjustments Ability to follow and complete work orders and preventative maintenance duties and provide updates on work order status Ability to work efficiently, productively, and with minimal supervision for the benefit of the University community Follow safety precautions with appropriate PPE, providing an environment for personal and public safety Maintain a clean work site and area that minimally interferes with university operations Perform all other duties as assigned Required Skills MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Actively Enrolled and 1 year completed in apprenticeship program for HVAC or Plumbing Trade Ability to identify and order all parts as required to complete HVAC work Ability to braze, silver solder, and work with black iron pipe Ability to diagnose electrical problems on low voltage systems Ability to lay out new piping and make repairs on existing systems Ability to work from ladders and lift heavy items up to 50 lbs.
