A Mechanical Design Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Wilmington, NC area. This role involves providing mechanical equipment designs, modifications, and documentation using CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor), while ensuring accuracy, functionality, and compliance with company standards for industrial equipment.

responsibilities:
- Redesign mechanical components to reduce installation costs, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs.
- Create, review, and update installation documentation and drawings as needed.
- Redline existing drawings and oversee drafting services or draftsmen to resolve design issues.
- Execute design changes to solve equipment/process issues.
- Ensure designs meet form, fit, and function goals set by internal customers and project managers.
- Provide sketches or marked-up drawings for projects and equipment needs.
Skills:
- Self-motivated and results-oriented.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work well with varied job requirements.
- Teamwork, organization, and proficiency in GD&T.
- Understanding of pneumatic and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of mechanical drive trains, electrical and pneumatic actuators.
Education and Experience:
- AAS in Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (equivalent experience may be considered).
- Minimum 5+ years of experience.
