The System Engineer SME is responsible for supporting the management and monitoring of all installed systems and infrastructure; installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools; and ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability and performance.
The System Engineer SME shall support the Government’s efforts in migrating the current National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system to the cloud for the next generation system (N3G). To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today!
Responsibilities
- Management and monitoring of all installed systems and infrastructure; installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools; and ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability and performance.
- Software development, engineering to include technical requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing and problem diagnosis/resolution.
- Measuring performance and tuning applications in a cloud environment to meet performance requirements.
- Software integration and testing to include developing and implementing test plans and automated test scripts.
- Responsible for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support.
- Designs, implements, installs, maintains, and administers infrastructures including hardware, software, and various configurations.
- Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately.
- Performs root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective measures.
- Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures.
- Performs work under minimal supervision.
- Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
- May act as lead.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- A minimum of ten (10) years of supporting system design, development, implementation, and operations of systems
- A minimum of six (6) years of system engineering
- A minimum of two (2) years of engineering in an off-premises cloud environment.
- Secret Security Clearance
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with system engineering with hybrid systems with one component in an off-premises cloud
- Prior work experience with the Federal Government
- Prior work experience with either Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Azure
- Familiarity with Agile development
Pay Range
$160,000 - $165,000
