Description Pratt Institute is seeking a Part-Time Utility Porter to join its Facilities Management Team who will perform duties in support of the maintenance and upkeep of Pratt's buildings and grounds. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of various cleaning techniques and cleaning equipment, as well as hands-on experience in housekeeping. Examples of Duties Clean building floors, walls, and other surfaces by sweeping, mopping, wiping, scrubbing, or vacuuming; remove trash and snow; apply cleaning agents. Move furniture and equipment as needed or directed. Maintain furniture, office equipment, floors, walls, rugs, stairwells, lounges, bathrooms, lobbies, elevators, locker, and storage facilities. Inspect, clean and disinfect restrooms as necessary, re-stock paper and soap products accordingly. Maintain the safety and cleanliness of all exterior and walkways in assigned areas by sweeping, moping, or with shovels, ice-melting chemicals, etc. Maintain cleaning equipment; clean and ensure equipment is in safe operating condition. Report any visible damage, malfunctions, and accidents involving the Institute's equipment or property to the supervisor. Serve as relief truck driver or truck assistant to pick up and deliver packages, furniture, and equipment. Typical Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalency required. In lieu of the education (HS Diploma or equivalent) requirement, we will accept; One full year of solid experience, extensive training in areas of cleaning, disinfecting, knowledge of cleaning products and equipment. Experience: One year of experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or as a porter Knowledge, Skills, and License : Knowledge of different types of cleaning equipment and the safe use of chemical cleaning agents. Must have the ability to work well with diverse populations; and demonstrated level of cultural competence. Must be able to meet physical requirement for position and be able to work in inclement weather as needed or directed. NYS Driver License required.
