Responsibilities
About the role
The Cloud Architect provides technical leadership for agile teams and defines and communicates a shared technical vision for the solution under development. The Cloud Architect is able to architect end to end solutions by understanding and translating customer needs into technical solutions. Thhis role will play a key role in the design of the Azure architecture for mobile and web applications.
JOB DUTIES
- Establishes direction and provides guidance to team members
- Demonstrates mastery of the following activities:
- Define the technical and architectural vision for the solution under development by technical trade-offs and analysis of alternatives
- Continuously evolve solution architecture with input and feedback from application architects and software engineers
- Outline the primary components and interfaces of the solution, and their interactions
- Plan and develop the architecture runway enablers through research, prototyping, and other activities needed to explore prospective solutions and evaluate alternatives
- Works with Product Manager, Product Owner, Application Architect and Software engineering teams to elaborate product requirements into technical requirements which are used to develop stories that can be estimated accurately
- Participates in Scrum of Scrums to understand and remove architectural impediments/blockers
- Participates in Solution Demo and program planning and identifies opportunities for improvement
Qualifications

- Advanced knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean, XP) and cross-functional teams
- Advanced knowledge of multi-tier application architecture design, application development (full SDLC) and application integration
- Advanced knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture concepts - SOAP, Web API, REST API and microservices
- Advanced knowledge implementing solution architecture including one or more of the following domains: technology architecture, information architecture, data architecture, application architecture, security architecture, and integration architecture
- Ability to overcome steep learning curve within a short period of time on any subject and speak intelligently about the subject
- Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal direction and maximum accountability
- Ability to self-manage time and priorities in a complex multi-team agile environment while maintaining high-quality deliverables
- Works through others to achieve more than individual contribution
- Strong communication skills - proficient in communicating technical solutions to technical and non-technical audiences of varying skillset and levels of the organization
Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Experience with Adobe Marketing Cloud products preferred
- Experience with mobile application development preferred
- Experience in building cloud solutions architecture using Public Clouds (IaaS and PaaS) preferred
- Experience in containerization - Docker, Docker Swarm or Kubernetes preferred
Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work or military experience preferred
- 6-8 years experience as an Architect with a proven track record of implementing innovative solutions and delivering business values required
- 4-6 years practical experience in software engineering required

Salary
The base salary range for this role is: USD $114,400.00 to $217,400.00. At GM Financial, we strive for transparency in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan. Full time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits on day one of employment.

OUR BUSINESS & OUR HISTORY
GM Financial was founded as AmeriCredit in September 1992 and opened its first branch office in Fort Worth, Texas. On October 1, 2010, AmeriCredit Corp. was acquired by General Motors Company and renamed General Motors Financial Company, Inc. (GM Financial). In 2011, GM Financial acquired FinanciaLinx to serve GM dealers and customers throughout Canada. In November 2012, GM Financial announced the acquisition of Ally Financial Inc.’s international operations. The majority of those acquisitions were finalized in 2013, with the remaining market, a 35 percent equity interest in a joint venture in China, acquired in January 2015. In October 2017, GM Financial completed the sale of its European financial subsidiaries and branches as part of General Motors’ sale of the Opel and Vauxhall businesses to Peugeot S.A.
