Internal Job Number: P05001CT Description: This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Education Program Assistant 1 position for the Oregon State University Division of Extension and Engagement's Extension 4-H Youth Development Program in Marion County. This Education Program Assistant 1 (EPA1) position is based at the Oregon State University Division of Extension and Engagement's (division) Extension Service office in Marion County, Oregon. This position is a member of the regional and statewide team of the OSU Extension 4-H Youth Development Program and will serve Marion County. This EPA1 works as a team member to plan and conduct activities that bring 4-H youth development to the community. The position has regular contact with the public to promote awareness and interest in 4-H programs, and engage the public as volunteers, participants, and partners. This EPA1collaborates with, and supports the efforts of, the 4-H faculty member and program staff. This includes organizing and/or supporting specific 4-H events and training programs, providing office assistance to clientele, maintaining records and documentation (both physical and digital), leaders and members involved in the 4-H program in Marion County, assisting with recruitment, maintaining and carrying out the 4-H program and other Extension programs as needed. The division has built the capacity and expectation for employees to use digital communications and technologies in the modern-day workplace. This individual will work with the managing faculty member to design, develop, maintain and/or carry out educational programming and outreach activities to serve broad and diverse populations in an accessible, inclusive, equitable, and socially just manner. This includes complying with civil rights and language/visual regulations. About Extension 4-H Youth Development Program: 4-H provides young people with intentional, high-quality learning experiences that promote positive interactions with adults and peers, sustained and active participation across time, and opportunities to make meaningful contributions to the world around them. This mission is accomplished through the work of volunteers, youth, community members, and professionals who organize and conduct learning experiences in club, group, community, and family settings. Programs are implemented in a manner that is consistent with the best practices in the field of youth development and respectful of local norms and culture. 4-H Faculty teach, develop materials, coordinate digital outreach activities and provide administrative oversight to a broad array of programs through out-of-school, after-school, in-school, and camping programming. This position works with the managing faculty who is responsible for overseeing all 4-H programming and supervises volunteers with expertise in project areas (e.g., horticulture, outdoor and natural resource education, school and classroom enrichment, leadership, and civic engagement). Some 4-H experiences involve travel and overnight accommodations. 4-H faculty are required to assure compliance with Federal and State regulations related to youth protection, fund-raising, taxation, and the nonprofit status of 4-H and affiliated organizations. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two years of relevant experience (paid or volunteer), supporting community programs that serve children, youth, or adults OR Associate Degree and one year of work experience (paid or volunteer) which must be working in youth development programs, adult education, teaching, program delivery or related functions AND Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated skill to work with diverse audiences. Demonstrated skill to use computers for word processing, data management, and communications. Requirements : Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a broad and diverse audience. Experience (paid or volunteer) delivering and/or supporting educational programs. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with database systems for enrollment and tracking purposes. Detail oriented. General knowledge and ability to utilize computers including proficiency with information technology, professional office software and collaborative work platforms. Ability to develop printed or digital media (such as newsletters or web content) that reach broad and diverse audiences. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and follow-through. Ability to make decisions and problem-solve. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly. Ability to multi-task and to perform effectively in distracting environments. Ability to learn and adapt to using multiple forms of digital communication systems, including websites, email newsletters social media, and other tools in a changing technological environment. A commitment to collaborative and respectful learning and working environments that are safe, inclusive, and welcoming. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030. Type: Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 30lbs of program materials and equipment, and to maneuver across rugged terrain (such as outdoor camps, fair, etc.). Comfortable working in outdoor environments. Ability to work flexible hours. This position will require work on some evenings and weekends, and may occasionally require overnight stays. This position will require travel/driving (potentially alone) to various work activities. Some activities will occur in field locations, at youth camps, schools, fairgrounds, etc.
