The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center (NBDC) is seeking a Research Coordinator to join our team in a full-time position. The NBDC at Columbia University Medical Center is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and patient care. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have active clinical trials available to our volunteer participants.

The Research Project Manager will report to the Principal Investigators and serve as a liaison between the volunteer participants, and other collaborators during the POWERS study that involves apparently healthy volunteers without diabetes.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Principal Investigators for a national study that is investigating predictors of weight loss maintenance in healthy adults.
  • Collaborates with Investigators and study team for implementing, managing and sustaining the ongoing POWERS protocol.
  • Identifies operational and/or protocol issues, discuss with the Investigators and implement and oversee fulfillment of solutions
  • Works with Investigators to ensure compliance with informed consent, identify, report and resolve adverse events and HIPPA compliance.
  • Study participant responsibilities : Coordinating and preparing for all on-site participant study visits; Manages blood samples sent to Quest and receipt of results; Interacts by email with PIs when counsel needed to confirm participant eligibility.
  • Handles data entry and communicate when needed with Data Coordinating Center.
  • Creates and maintains participant document binders.
  • Adds events to study Incidence Log.
  • Presents information at weekly staff meetings to PI and research staff.
  • Attends virtual and in-person Steering committee meetings, and virtual Coordinators meetings, as needed.
  • Serves as a backup when need arises when Senior Coordinator is out (along with other POWERS staff).
  • Serves as a back-up interventionist (if qualified as RD/nutritionist) when need arises, specific to nutrition education and behavior modification, for individual and group-based nutrition counseling in POWERS.
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor???s degree or equivalent in education and experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, together with a minimum of 1-3 years' experience as a research worker.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience as a clinical research coordinator.
  • Lifestyle intervention research experience.

Other Requirements
  • Must be flexible, highly organized, and able to manage individual study participants
  • Excellent organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate, interpret, share and present information to management and research investigators and staff.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Experience with data collection.
