The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Billing Compliance Coordinator is responsible to oversee the Department???s faculty practice billing compliance review functions. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with billing and coding standards within the department. This role requires extensive interaction with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess clinical documentation supporting medical services, including CPT and ICD coding, and to prepare monthly reports of all transaction reviews.

Responsibilities

Documentation Review and Coding Assessment:
  • Assess clinical documentation supporting medical services for appropriate billing of reported services.
  • Evaluate and monitor CPT and ICD-10 coding to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Conduct oversight of pre-billing and post-billing process reviews for the department using the EPIC system.

Compliance and Regulatory Monitoring:
  • Investigate various compliance questions using extensive online resources, including the Federal Register, Medicare Carriers Manual, CPT and ICD books, CPT Assistant, and other industry resources.
  • Monitor regulatory changes to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agencies and University policies.
  • Conduct protocol reviews and assist with the preparation of appropriate CPT coding for grant and research budget proposals.

Training and Development:
  • Assist the Billing Compliance Director with training initiatives, including coordinating training classes and developing training materials (e.g., PowerPoint presentations).
  • Write and edit compliance plans, policies, and guidelines.

Audit Coordination:
  • Coordinate and prepare information for internal and external auditors.
  • Prepare monthly reports of all transaction reviews and discuss results with the Director of Billing Compliance.
  • Assist with the continued development of the compliance program and related activities.

Other Duties:
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the department's objectives and the Office for Billing Compliance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a bachelor???s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.
  • CPC certified.
  • Strong understanding of clinical documentation, medical coding (CPT and ICD), and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent research skills and ability to utilize various resources to investigate compliance-related issues.
  • Proficiency in developing training materials and conduction training sessions.
  • Strong communications skills and ability to interact effectively with physicians and other healthcare professions.
  • Detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • At least one year of experience in OBGYN coding is preferred.
