Summary:

The Trust Services Director is a senior leader in the Chief Fiduciary Office responsible for managing a team that oversees unique and hard to value assets in trust accounts, including interests in partnerships and limited liability companies, as well as life insurance, real estate, and mineral interests. The Trust Services Director is also responsible for leading a team providing specialized trust services consistently to clients across the entire Huntington footprint, including but not limited to trust tax services.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Leads and manages the fiduciary oversight and complex issues related to holding illiquid and alternative assets in fiduciary accounts, including but not limited to assets such as insurance, annuities, residential and commercial real property, partnerships and limited liability company interests, loans or promissory notes, and oil and gas interests.

  • Provides oversight of all fiduciary related matters for unique and hard to value assets, including continued monitoring and resolution.

  • Designs and maintains fiduciary policies and procedures for unique and hard to value assets including oversight, operational execution, and fiduciary compliance to define risk at reasonable levels.

  • Participates in or may lead fiduciary oversight committees, including account acceptance and discretionary actions with respect to unique and hard to value assets

  • Displays a balanced perspective, liaising with trust administration teams, investment professionals, risk, and compliance teams to maintain risk at reasonable levels and to incorporate flexibility, improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.

  • Participates in developing fiduciary strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the Trust Services team; follows through to ensure that objectives are met.

  • Provides leadership and guidance to colleagues, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.

  • Participates in business development opportunities and existing client relationships by explaining complicated concepts to clients in a thoughtful way using non-technical terminology.

  • Available to employees and advisors for consultation on day-to-day matters that involve trust administration, fiduciary risk management, asset management, and adherence to compliance related measures and policies and issues.

  • Engages and liaises with in-house or external trust counsel as appropriate.

  • Leads and manages the Trust Tax team, including oversight of tax preparation vendors.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 10+ years of experience in fiduciary services

  • Expert understanding of unique and hard to value assets as defined by the OCC

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Strong fiduciary management skills

  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills evidence by experience acting independently with regulators and executive management

  • Strong risk and operational experience

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and assignments in a changing environment with competing priorities while meeting tight deadlines

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skill
