Lead Compliance Officer - Conduct Risk and Enterprise Compliance Operations - Military Veterans

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Compliance Officer to help develop, implement, and support the oversight of the effective and consistent execution of certain core elements of the Compliance Program Policy across the Conduct Risk ("CR") and Enterprise Compliance Operations ("ECO") teams. CR is an independent risk management function responsible for establishing requirements and providing independent assessment of, and challenge to, front line management of conduct risks. ECO is comprised of nine underlying teams which are highly operational in nature and are responsible for overseeing and implementing enterprise-wide compliance policies and procedures, including but not limited to Global Control Group, Personal Account Dealing, Equity Aggregation, Securities Registration, Insurance Licensing, and Outside Activity Pre-clearance. These compliance teams cover all the firms' lines of business and corporate functions globally as they relate to the underlying team responsibilities. The Lead Compliance Officer will support the CR and ECO teams in developing risk mitigation strategies, including but not limited to self-assurance activities, risk indicators, regulatory exam and testing engagements.

In this role, you will:


  • Support the metrics and self-assurance activity governance process for CR and ECO to support the identification, development, implementation and tracking of risk indicators and self-assurance activities

  • Support CR and ECO teams with requests related to front line Reg exams, audit and independent testing

  • Track testing engagements for planning purposes that will create and produce meaningful insights across CR and ECO teams

  • Ensure appropriate and timely identification and escalation of issues and emerging risks

  • Support the development, implementation and oversight of complex compliance and regulatory initiatives including establishing standards and controls

  • Provide compliance risk and regulatory subject matter expertise for a defined set of high and moderate risk compliance program elements

  • Recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development

  • Identify reporting, escalation, timely remediation of issues and deficiencies or regulatory matters regarding compliance risk management

  • Provide direction to the business on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change and monitor the reporting, escalation, and timely remediation of issues, deficiencies or regulatory matters

  • Establish, implement and maintain risk standards and programs to drive compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory and Corporate Policy requirements

  • Maintain compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with moderate to high risk, over multiple business lines

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development

  • Interpret policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

  • Foster relationships with business leaders, Legal, Audit, regulators, and industry partners on risk related topics

  • Actively participate as a key member of the CR and ECO Program and Governance Execution leadership team and other Compliance Risk Management governance meetings and committees as required

  • Provide oversight and monitoring of business group risk-based compliance programs



Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Compliance experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Financial services industry experience, either in a Compliance, Operational Risk, Controls Testing or Audit role

  • Experience with metrics governance and reporting and/or independent controls testing

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment

  • Ability to work across multiple lines of business leading large scale initiatives

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner

  • Experience communicating in both written and verbal formats with Management

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$111,100.00 - $197,500.00
