We are actively seeking an onsite Electrical Prototyping Fabrication Technician to join the Test Equipment Engineering Directorate in Tucson, Arizona.

The Test Equipment Engineering Directorate (TEE) includes all the engineering disciplines responsible for systems design & test on all Raytheon products. Our engineers are responsible for all elements of the development lifecycle for test including test requirements, test system design, flight simulations, hardware-in-the-loop, computer-in-the-loop, advanced engineering prototyping technology, flight operations for manned and unmanned vehicles, environmental testing, environmental characterization and engineering laboratory management. We are hands-on, designing with the latest technology and tools, and integrate state of the art test solutions with the most advanced engineering systems in the world.

The Electrical Prototyping Fabrication Technicians work in an engineering environment to co-develop engineering hardware in accordance with customer and internal requirements, as well as industry standards. Candidates will collaborate with multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects to bring design concepts to fruition, providing rapid engineering, fabrication and prototyping solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle.  

What You Will Do

• Fabricate, maintain, modify, and repair basic prototype electrical assemblies


• Rely on limited experience to interpret drawings, schematics, 3D models, written notes, and specifications


• May assist in the layout and fitment of electrical, electro-optical, electro-mechanical, and mechanical assemblies


• May adapt methods and procedures to test, analyze, and troubleshoot new hardware


• Apply intermediate skills to test, inspect, and prove-in basic prototype electrical assemblies


• May assist in electrical/mechanical engineering drawing peer reviews to validate engineering design specifications in development of producible prototypes


• Assess basic designs to ensure producibility, maintainability, safety, and reliability


• Communicate build concerns to customers and collaborate on design improvements


• Perform other task related duties as required

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.


• Experience in an engineering environment, testing and fabricating electrical assemblies in two or more of the following areas: cables or wire harnesses, breakout boxes, chassis, circuit card modifications, racked electronic equipment, and troubleshooting of systems in an integration environment


• Experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.


• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience analyzing and interpreting schematics and drawings to identify producibility issues


• Military electronics or avionics training


• Familiarity with 3D drawings and CAD tools


• J-STD-001 Solder certification


• IPC 610 & 620 Acceptability certifications and inspection experience

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 83,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
