International Education Fellow - Military Veterans

Global Learning at Hamilton College seeks a full-time temporary International Education Fellow beginning immediately with a scheduled end date of June 30, 2025. We welcome applications from experienced professionals, graduate students or recent graduates from relevant international education MA or Ph.D. programs, and other individuals who have study abroad advising experience and wish to advance in a career in International Education. This is an exempt position with a 12-month pay range of $58,490 - $62,000. Salary for this position will be pro-rated.

Approximately 67% of Hamilton College graduates have studied abroad or on domestic off campus programs. Our global learning values encourage full integration of the study abroad experience with students' academic program, personal goals, and post-bac opportunities. Study abroad students often link their international experience to a senior project, to funding for international research, or to career relevant internships and experiential learning.

The position is ideal for someone who seeks to work within our integrated advising approach and who seeks an opportunity to help students envision study abroad within an integrated network of complementary learning opportunities, both on and off campus. The duties are primarily advisory in nature, consider appreciative approaches to student engagement, and promote cross campus collaboration. The position is ideal for an individual who wishes to contribute to and learn from this comprehensive advising approach. Global Learning at Hamilton College operates within a network of 12 offices providing educational support services organized under three broad categories: ADVISE, LEARN, EXPERIENCE.

Global Learning partners with over 100 partners and programs worldwide and supports a Curricular Integration Initiative that seeks to assist academic departments and programs develop distinctive study abroad portfolios.

International Education Fellow Duties

  • Advise students about study abroad opportunities using an engaged and integrative advising approach that assists students integrate study abroad plans with other aspects of their undergraduate experience and post-bac plans.
  • Provide information and support regarding goal-setting, health and safety concerns, and other issues pertaining to appropriate decision making and preparedness to study abroad.
  • Follow up with students regarding inquiries and related advising questions.
  • Communicate with program representatives and advisors to assist students with questions pertaining to the application process, access to course syllabi, and related issues.
  • Become acquainted with Hamilton Pre-Approved Study Abroad Programs as well as alternative programs abroad - this includes keeping up to date with programs on the approved list, regularly checking provider websites, attending webinars about specific programs, and knowing the requirements for specific programs abroad.
  • Understand and be able to explain the Hamilton process, policies and requirements for study abroad to students, including facilitating referrals to the Registrar's Office, Scholarships and Fellowships Office, Pre-health Professions coordinator, and Financial Aid.
  • Participate in information sessions and other events hosted by the Office of Global Learning such as information sessions focusing on distinct academic fields of study or geographic locations, Study Abroad 101 Basics, Pre-departure sessions, and sessions for unique student constituencies.
  • Working with the entire study abroad advising team to exchange information, assist with team projects, and support the overall success of the study abroad learning experience from planning through pre-departure and reflection.

  • This is a full-time temporary position beginning immediately through June 30, 2025.
  • Work may be remote or on-site.
  • Candidates who work remotely will be supported to attend an orientation session on the Hamilton College campus.
