Full Consideration Date: 11/13/2024 Job Description: The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Division of Learning Technologies, seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor, starting in August 2025. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in instructional design and learning technologies; conducting research; participating in department/university initiatives; developing curriculum; contributing to a collegial team environment; advising graduate students; and serving on masters/doctoral-level committees. Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or a closely related field; proven record in designing engaging and effective online and in-person learning experiences tailored to adult learners using innovative instructional design strategies; demonstrated experience facilitating training, professional development, or learning experiences for adult learners; active involvement in professional organizations related to the field; excellent interpersonal skills, including collaborating effectively as a team with diverse individuals; and at least three years of experience in instructional design and development required. Preferred Qualifications: Active research agenda and scholarly productivity; working knowledge of Universal Design for Learning; experience using gaming, coding, virtual/augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and global collaboration in an educational environment; background using Quality Matters or similar frameworks/certifications; demonstrated record of innovation; digital presence that showcases an understanding of digital communications, tools, methods, resources, and industry trends; ability to develop partnerships with industry and community organizations; experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and research; and ability to provide the vision and the development of the master's degree program in alignment with educational and industry needs preferred. In addition, the division offers a newly updated master's program in Instructional Design and Learning Technologies, targeting adults in educational, professional, and industrial environments to launch in Fall 2025, as well as three graduate certificate programs.
