Wind Ironworker - La Casa - Military Veterans

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE(S) OF POSITION
Responsible for marking, positioning, and securing structural steel members to reinforce concrete or building structures.

RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Setting up, flagging, and inspecting a crane
B. Inspecting rigging properly
C. Running a site level
D. Checking-in truck deliveries against bill of lading when load arrives
E. Counting bars and bundles of rebar, dobies, and wire mesh
F. Directing forklift/crane to unload delivery truck
G. Shaking out rebar and distributing/organizing accordingly
H. Using pliers to tie rebar intersections with tie wire
I. Splicing mats or rebar sections together with short rebar dowels
J. Understanding building codes/requirements
K. Cutting excess rebar ends and miscellaneous pieces with gas cut saw or cutting torch
L. Installing mechanical rebar splices by bolting or welding ends together
M. Installing caps on vertical rebar dowels for safety
N. Installing rebar dowels into fresh concrete footings
O. Determining number, size, shape, and location of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions
P. Bending steel rods with hand tools or rodbending machine
Q. Reinforcing concrete with wire mesh
R. Ornamental Ironworker: Installing prefabricated ornamental ironwork
S. All other duties as assigned
T. Renewable Energy Group Accountabilities:
1. Receiving and offloading all major components
2. Installing loose components for Nacelle, hub, and tower preparation
3. Connecting blades to hub
4. Setting base and tower sections
5. Managing taglines
6. Involved with main erection crane assembly and teardown
7. Climbing ladders - average 80m

QUALIFICATIONS

D. Ability to move levers, shift gears, depress pedals and maneuver steering wheel to operator equipment
E. Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift up to 50 lbs
F. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, procedure manuals, and load charts
G. Knowledge of equipment and their uses
H. Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)
I. Strong teamwork orientation
J. Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
K. Ability to work independently

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A. High School Diploma or GED
B. Equipment certifications as required
C. 1 year of related experience preferred
D. Must possess valid driver's license of proper class and necessary endorsements as required by law
E. Must have passed the Apprentice Aptitude Test
