The position will consist of the majority of time spent teaching, advising students, and service. This position start in the fall of 2025.

The Fashion Program, housed in the Department of Art, is a growing interdisciplinary program with the intent to develop a future Fashion Institute. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and passionate educator, fashion enthusiast, and digital marketer who excels in a collaborative and collegial environment. “The Fusion of Design and Business” is how we describe the Fashion Program: https://miamioh.edu/fashion . Created in partnership with the Farmer School of Business’ Department of Marketing, the Fashion Program comprises a Fashion Minor and a Fashion Co-major with three tracks from which to select: Fashion Corporate Business, Fashion Design, and Fashion Entrepreneurship. This program emphasizes creativity and experimentation, while offering students the opportunity to develop a broad set of basic skills in design language, technical skills, and the business of fashion. The large fashion student community at Miami University includes several student organizations, including Miami University Fashion and Design (MUF&D), MUSE MGMT, UP Magazine, and Futures in Retail.

The Department of Art includes six different degree programs and reports up through the College of Creative Arts. The CCA houses diverse programs in both the traditional and emerging arts and prioritizes strong professional preparation for students’ future creative careers. Curricular integration with business, technology, health, and other Miami partners helps to position our students at the forefront of their fields and as in demand by employers in today’s creative and artistic fields.

The Department of Marketing is one of the most popular majors in the Farmer School of Business and currently has approximately 350 graduates per year. The faculty consists of 18 tenured/tenure-track faculty member, four assistant teaching professors, three lecturers, and five instructors. Terminal degree (PhD, MFA in Fashion, or closely related area) by the date of appointment, and demonstrated expertise in digital marketing, for appointment as Assistant Teaching Professor; or

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion, Marketing or closely related area with 7 or more years of fashion industry experience for appointment as Assistant Lecturer. Industry experience with a specific focus on digital media marketing in the fashion industry.

Consideration may be given to candidates with demonstrated industry experience; experience as an exceptional teacher at the undergraduate level; and/or previous experience with curriculum development and innovative initiatives.
