Job Summary and Qualifications

Nuclear Medicine Tech

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Performs all Nuclear Medicine procedures according to established policies and procedures, methods and standards to provide quality patient care.

SUPERVISOR: Practice Manager

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • Cardiology Experience Preferred 
  • Document patient information and perform other non-clinical duties to support procedure completion.
  • Greet and identify correct patient and provide a brief explanation of requested procedure to ensure patient care and patients’ right to know.
  • Perform all aspects of radiopharmaceutical preparation for scintigraphy, bioassay, and therapeutic procedures and disposes of radioactive trash according to department policy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission standards.
  • Perform imaging and therapeutic procedures according to requirements.
  • Perform non-clinical activities pertinent to equipment maintenance and NRC regulations for Quality Control and radiation monitoring.
  • Maintain appropriate supplies and a clean, organized work environment.
  • Participate in continuing education activities to expand/enhance knowledge of Nuclear Medicine.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Must read, understand, and adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures.
  • Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statement.

EDUCATION:

Graduate of accredited school of Nuclear Medicine.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in Nuclear Medicine (may include experience in formal NM formal training program)
  •  Prefer three years’ experience in nuclear medicine department.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: 

  • Required to be registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Or Certified Nuclear Medical Technologist

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Able to communicate on a professional level with patients, nurses, physicians and other ancillary staff.
  • Must be able to provide quality results for diagnostic testing.
  • Provides a sensitive and supportive environment for patients and family members.
