Position Title: Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy School/Division: School of Education Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time Description: The School of Education is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy in the Department of Specialized Programs in Education ( SPE ) at Hofstra University. The SPE Department welcomes applications in the field of K-12 Educational Leadership and Policy, with a focus on school district and building leadership in diverse learning communities. The candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of and experience with established educational research methodologies and assessment practices. We also seek applicants with experience in the creation, implementation, and teaching of asynchronous online courses. Experience and skills in quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods research design, data analysis, and program evaluation in areas that are particularly relevant for educational leaders are desirable. In addition to the ability to work in a team, a history of involvement in and sensitivity to the needs of underserved and/or underrepresented groups in K-12 educational settings is particularly valued. We seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice as reflected in their scholarship, teaching, and service to the field. The responsibilities of the Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy will include, but are not limited to: Teaching primarily graduate courses in Educational Leadership and Policy at the doctoral, masters, and advanced certificate levels Developing, implementing, and teaching asynchronous online, hybrid, and in-person courses Advising doctoral, masters, and advanced certificate students and serving as dissertation chair/committee member for doctoral students Engaging in or leading research, scholarship, and other scholarly and professional endeavors that advance the mission and values of the School of Education Engaging in a service agenda that supports the mission and values of the department, school, and university Working collaboratively to administer, assess, and strengthen the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies programs and to cultivate and strengthen community partnerships Supporting efforts to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, students, and community members Qualifications: An earned doctorate (Ed.D., Ph.D. or equivalent) in Education or closely related field. Demonstrated record of academic scholarship, research, and other scholarly activities in relevant fields. Strong knowledge of and experience with methods of research and assessment in education. Demonstrated record of effective teaching at the K-12 and/or postsecondary level. Demonstrated experience of effective leadership at the K-12 level. Demonstrated experience advancing diversity, equity, democracy, and justice in education.
