Food Service Worker Part-Time - Military Veterans

Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker for the Child and Adult Partial Hospital Program within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
The primary purpose of the part-time Food Service Worker is to assist in providing food services for individuals served within the Partial Hospital Program setting according to regulations and University Behavioral Health Care policies. Assists in preparing, transporting, and serving food items. Carries out various cleaning and sanitation functions.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Prepares and/or serves breakfast, lunch, and snacks per program menu.
- Responsible for receiving prepared food items from external vendors.
- Sets up breakfast, lunch, and snacks for individuals served.
- Assists with transporting food items for serving and discarding.
- Ensures that all food items that need to be refrigerated are wrapped up and placed in refrigerator within time frame.
- Ensures that all opened food items have been properly labeled.
- Checks labels on all food items and disposes of food consonant with expiration dates.
- Monitors thermometer readings from the refrigerators and freezers to ensure that readings comply with UBHCpolicy.
- If out of compliance, works with supervisor on remediation.
- Maintains a clean, sanitary, organized, and safe work environment
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to stand and operate various food service equipment, serve customers in a positive manner, and maintain unit sanitation standards as set by the department.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Partial Hospital program with ongoing contact with individuals served. Busy noisy environment. Subject to unpredictable crisis situations, both medical and psychiatric. Occasionally exposed to individuals exhibiting assaultive behaviors.
