Job Summary and Qualifications

As a member of the team: 


  • You will have acquired clinical knowledge and experience to facilitate arranging the transport of patients being discharged from all HCA facilities within the markets served. 

  • You will collect clinical information relative to a patient’s status and transport request and then facilitates arranging transport with transport providers that match the patient's clinical needs. You will collaborate with the hospital staff and transport companies for timely and appropriate transport arrangements. 

  • You will use customer service skills and professional communication standards to positively interact with peers, customers, and supervisors. 

  • You will perform all patient logistic center functions for arranging discharge transport in a timely, customer centered professional manner with the aid of a computer database consisting of facility service profiles and healthcare information. 

  • You will provide transport coordination specific to the discharge of patients from HCA facilities. 

  • You will establish and maintain a high degree of awareness and knowledge of hospitals within the markets served and services provided by the multiple transport companies. 

  • You will exhibit and model exceptional customer relationship behaviors, including telephone contact with all of the call center' customer groups (i.e. any employees at the HCA hospitals, dispatch for transport companies, and fellow employees including PLC coordinators). 

  • You will maintain professionalism and customer- centric communication with challenging callers. 

  • You will ensure accurate and concurrent data collection and maintenance in both patient record and center workflow systems. 

  • You will be expected to be proficient in navigating and documenting in all technology platforms and other call systems as needed. 

  • You will demonstrate the ability to handle multiple calls efficiently and prioritize need for arranging transport based on ETAs requested by facility. 

  • You will maintain a high level of communication with HCA facilities including calling back ETAs and updating delayed ETAs after transport arranged. 

Required Skills 


  • Knowledge of all state/federal regulatory requirements pertaining to ambulance transports Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with hospital staff and transport companies. 

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology relevant to transport needs. 

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of hospital and clinical operations and patient care practices Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Internet searches, and relevant data bases. 

Experience / Education 


  • 10 Hour Shifts -Required 

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical or hospital experience -Required 

  • ED and acute hospital experience - Highly Preferred •Call Center/Transfer Center experience -Preferred 

  • EMT Certificate -Required

Certification Requirements 

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP), or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), or Emergency Medical Services Instructor (EMS), or Emergency Medical Technician: Paramedic (EMT-P)
