AFRL Windows and Linux IT Support - Military Veterans

Torch Technologies, Inc. provides dedicated and professional Advisory and Assistance Support (A&AS) to ensure effective, timely and optimal operation of Information Systems that support the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate (AFRL/RW) Research and Development (R&D) mission. Our work encompasses the activities associated with information management, Information Technology (IT), automation support, system administration, computer programming, configuration management, imaging, training, telecommunications, help desk, operations, customer support, administrative support, technical engineering, and other specialized networking and data communications services. This position supports a dedicated R&D environment that works alongside a DevSecOps team.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with experience.

The selected candidate will join the R&D IT Team, under the Integration and Operations Division, IT Operations Branch which provides Linux and Windows System Administration, Cybersecurity, and Software Testing support to the Munition Directorate's Corporate Systems. Duties will include working closely with team members in all aspects of the existing R&D IT Team. The selected candidate will document enclave equipment and submit packages for approval, test new releases of approved software for vulnerabilities, maintain a software inventory, and work independently to research, test, debug and deliver projects on time with some oversight. Systems supported include stand-alone enclaves and systems accessing internal and external networks, such as the Science and Technology Advanced Research Network (STARNet). The selected candidate shall provide advisory services for RMF certification and accreditation activities, including creation of RMF documentation required to approve, establish, maintain, and decommission systems.

Job Requirements

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and up to 3 years of relevant experience, or 10 years of years of relevant IT experience developing and delivering products and solutions. Experience with Linux operating systems, scripting, and software testing is highly preferred. Experience developing and delivering National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation, including system certification packages, is highly preferred.

Candidates must meet DoD 8140 Work Role 671-System Testing & Evaluation Specialist "Intermediate" requirements. The candidate shall maintain eligibility for the position through meeting the continuous education requirements as outlined in DoD 8140, 671-System Testing & Evaluation Specialist annual maintenance requirements. This may include a Security+ certification sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (COMPTIA) or equivalent certification compliant with Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140.1 or successor requirements.

Candidates must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Windows 10, Windows 11, and related Personal Computer (PC) skills.

Candidates should be goal-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of exercising tact and diplomacy, have the ability to work in a dynamic team environment, possess a strong work ethic, and be customer-focused.

Candidates should be able to mentor team members and eagerly assist in solving complex technical problems.

Candidates must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Additional Notes

This position requires candidates to possess a current SECRET security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to maintain a SECRET security clearance will result in a candidate being ineligible for this position.

This position is located at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
