Shipboard C4I Laborer - Military Veterans

at Akima

The Laborer will be responsible for supporting a variety of general tasking.


Responsibilities

  • Laborers perform mainly physical labor including loading, unloading, lifting and moving supplies and materials.
  • Performs such duties as a fire watch, cable puller, and as an electrician’s helper.
  • Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of equipment.
  • Complete simple routine tasks under close supervision from lead type personnel.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US citizen.  
  • High School diploma, or equivalent and minimum 1 year of shipboard installation experience.

  • Must be flexible with work availability - standard hours are 40 per week, Monday through Friday; however, overtime day, night or swing shift may be required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • OSHA 10 7615 Training (Certificate or OSHA issue card) required by NAVSEA Standard Item 009-74.

  • Cableway Improvement Program (CIP) IAW NAVSEA 9304.1.

Physical Demands:  

  • Ability to work in a shipboard industrial environment.

  • Ability to lift, transport and carry (heavy) equipment and cabling up to 50lbs.

  • Ability to work on and climb ladders, aboard ships, in shipyards, outdoors in all types of weather conditions and in cramped spaces.
