Job Overview

A Postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in Dr. Nalinikanth Kotagiri's laboratory within the Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Cincinnati, USA. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team for a NIH-funded project focused on immune cell engineering, particularly CAR-T cells. This project aims to develop techniques for monitoring CAR-T cell behavior and distribution in real-time to enhance their therapeutic application in cancer treatment.

Essential Functions

  • Design and engineer immune cells, like chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cells with novel functionalities.
  • Conduct in vitro and in vivo studies to evaluate immune cell efficacy and safety.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of immunologists, bioengineers, and clinicians.
  • Present research findings in internal meetings and at scientific conferences.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact journals.
  • Mentor junior researchers and contribute to the collaborative lab environment.


Required Education

Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree

Required Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
  • May require experience with specialized software programs.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • PhD in Immunology, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, or related field.
  • Strong experience in cell engineering, particularly CAR-T cells or other immune cell therapies.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including gene editing (CRISPR), viral vector production, and flow cytometry.
  • Experience in animal models and/or immunotherapy.
  • Experience in molecular imaging is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
