Position Summary

We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our team at Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation. This role involves providing engineering and technical support and may include acting as the Site Shift Supervisor for labor at project sites. Additionally, the position may involve leading smaller scope turn-key projects. Responsibilities could include support for steam turbines, generators, valves, and auxiliary systems.

Essential Duties

  • Provide engineering expertise for project site work, including service, repair, installations, or fleet outages.
  • Advise on disassembly, repair, and assembly of power generation equipment and auxiliary systems; may support startup activities.
  • Support troubleshooting activities.
  • Work with Toshiba design groups as directed by the Project/Site Manager.
  • Answer questions and requests for engineering information.
  • Assist the Project/Site Manager in project development.
  • Ensure technical requirements are met and addresses technical issues with sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • May assist project as site shift supervisor:
  • Oversee site labor assigned to project activities.
  • Manage shift activities and approves labor timesheets.
  • Submit shift work activity reports and expense reports.
  • Coordinate shift activities with the Project/Site Manager and notify them of issues impacting schedule or costs.

Travel

  • Up to 70%

Education and Required Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and 3-10 years industry experience preferred.

  • 8-15 years industry experience in power generation.
  • Certified Steam Turbine or Nuclear technology training by Toshiba or equivalent company is preferred.
  • Proficient in reading English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including organizing and directing technical personnel, experience in procedure and process documentation, technical report writing.
  • Familiarity with product and document management systems is preferred.
  • Experience in installation, repair, or refurbishment of power generation equipment.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, and risk of shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold and wet, humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
