Job Summary: The University of Wisconsin Biotechnology Center (UWBC) is seeking an ambitious, independent Client Based Researcher I to support the services of the Animal Models Core whose mission is to provide various genome editing technology including CRISPR and assisted reproduction related support to UW investigators. This individual will be responsible for the cryopreservation and rederivation programs. They will oversee the importation and exportation of valuable rodent cryopreserved material as well as be responsible for rederiving off-campus mouse and rat lines for UW labs. A successful employee demonstrates efficient time management skills in addition to strong attention to detail in carrying out lab and animal related tasks. Applicants must be comfortable working with animal models, including mice and rats. The Animal Models Core is a fee-for-service facility within UWBC. They are committed to maximizing the benefits of biotechnology research within the University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Wisconsin System, State of Wisconsin, and the nation. The Centers facilitate high quality, comprehensive, multidisciplinary research and supports, coordinates, disseminates, and advances biotechnology. Responsibilities: Designs methodology, conducts data collection and analysis, and prepares reports for client-based research. 20% Assists with the development of research methodologies and procedures according to client-based objectives and specifications 5% Identifies concerns and recommends solutions to leadership 50% Collects and analyzes basic research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures 10% Prepares reports and materials and disseminates information to appropriate entities 10% Reviews and edits research protocols under general supervision 5% Trains individuals and groups on equipment operations, research protocols, and techniques within a specialized laboratory or research area Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: -1-3 years laboratory experience. -1 year tissue culture experience. -Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. -Effective and flexible communication skills. -Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting to establish and maintain effective working relationship. Required Qualifications: -Efficient in database management and electronic lab notebook (ie. Lab Archives). -Good conflict resolution skills. -Strong problem solving skills. -Excellent record documentation skills, excellent organization skills and attention to detail, knowledge and understanding of laboratory safety and operations protocols, and the ability to work independently and to consistently follow laboratory protocols. Work Type: Full Time: 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing/Renewable Salary: Minimum $54,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications The minimum salary for a Client-Based Researcher I position is $54,000 annually. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
