Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing and implementing dynamic engagement programs in support of the University's annual giving program. These programs include the phonathon, student philanthropy, and philanthropic volunteer engagement. The Assistant Director will oversee the Engagement Center operations, including the recruitment and hiring of student callers and supervisors, caller motivation and retention, shift schedules, data analysis, project reporting, implementation of best practices, management of technical resources and tools, partnering with cross-campus colleagues, and preparing talking points and collateral. The Assistant Director will build on existing relationships with cross-campus partners and University leaders to develop a student philanthropy program and expand the pipeline of actively engaged philanthropic volunteers in support of LMU's crowdfunding efforts, including the annual Day of Giving. Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities: Manage the Engagement Center strategy and operations. Cultivate an environment of motivation and productivity. (40%) Prepare and analyze weekly, monthly, project-based, and annual reports to inform ongoing strategies. Facilitate data flow between LMU's donor database and the Engagement Center software (currently RNL Engage). In collaboration with the Director of Annual Giving, collaborate with campus partners to identify priorities, develop strategies, determine segmentation, and draft scripting. Promote and foster a program that is the conduit of communication and storytelling between LMU and its donors. Coordinate pledge fulfillment efforts with the Gifts & Records team. Establish a robust working relationship with Engagement Center software vendor to maintain and operate the automated calling system, including upgrades and integration with the donor database. In coordination with central IT office, maintain computers, dialers, headsets, and all related equipment. Develop an annual recruitment plan to maintain a functional level of attendance for each scheduled calling shift. Interview, hire, and onboard new student hires. Create and facilitate a training program for new student callers. (25%) Strategize and implement a comprehensive student philanthropy program which includes building philanthropic awareness for current students. (15%) Optimize the current philanthropic volunteer management strategy surrounding University's annual Day of Giving. (15%) Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Experience/Qualifications A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes. Three years of professional experience with direct development, fundraising, and/or transferrable professional skills that includes sales and/or developing relationships with volunteers, clients, and/or customers. Experience with alumni and donor database like Affinaquest or ascend for Salesforce, Advance, or Raiser's Edge and a call center software, like RNL Engage or similar required. Demonstrated computer competency. Exemplary communication (both written and oral), project management and organization skills. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Must be a goal-oriented and self-motivated individual who can demonstrate accountability, initiative, creativity, and focus in a rapidly changing and intellectually stimulating environment. Active listening skills and ability to negotiate positive outcomes. Outstanding interpersonal skills, sound ethical judgment, and ability to handle highly confidential information. Motivation to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes, as well as changing trends in higher education philanthropy.
