Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Military Veterans

Dr. Giuseppe Tosto (The Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer's Disease and the Aging Brain, Columbia University, NY) is seeking postdoctoral research scientists with a background in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics or Computer Science. The candidate will be engaged in research focusing on neuro-degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer?s Disease and other age-related traits. This is an in-person position . The Taub Institute houses scientists with expertise in clinical, epidemiological, neuropsychological, and genetics research.
Responsibilities
• Develop, characterize and optimize bioinformatics tools to analyze high-throughput genomic and multi-omics data (e.g. genome-wide association studies, whole exome/genome/RNA sequencing data etc.)
• Be able to work independently and collaboratively with highly interactive research groups.
• Duties will include designing and performing experiments, data analysis and interpretation, as well as writing manuscripts.
Requirements
• PhD degree in Bioinformatics or Biostatistics or Computer Science
• Proficient in statistical programming languages (R/Python etc.) and have experience working on Unix/Linux systems and basic shell scripting.
• Experience in working with datasets.
• Familiarity with commonly used human sequence data analysis bioinformatics tools and genetic databases.
• Working knowledge of statistical genetics will be a plus.
• The candidates should be punctual, punctual and detail-oriented, self-motivated, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
