Position Summary The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology is seeking a Research Assistant with demonstrated experience in flow cytometry to work in the Immunogenetics Lab. The work will involve hands-on processing biological samples for clinical flow cytometry tests for lymphoid, non-lymphoid and malignant leukocyte immunophenotyping. The candidate will be involved in R&D work of developing new assays for primary immunodeficiency diagnosis. Training in laboratory protocols and result reporting will be provided. An important part of the job will relate to the development of multi-color (10+) Flow Cytometry assays. In addition, the responsibilities will include a minor component of quality control/assurance (validation of new reagents, tests and instrumentation, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, regulatory compliance), and training of residents and new personnel. Responsibilities 40% - Performing flow cytometry 40% - Recording/analyzing data 15% - General lab maintenance 5% - Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and at least one and one-half years of related experience or equivalent education, training and experience Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or higher) in natural sciences (Biology preferred) Prior experience in flow cytometry is required, experience in immunology and tissue culture is a plus Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, and internal and external stakeholders.
